Today with a couple of hours downtime, I was able to post a few photos from the previous days.
Kuala Lumpur Malaysia - March 3rd
As in other South East Asia countries, motor bikes are the prevalent mode of transportation. To Malaysia's credit, their streets and highways are much better organized than in Indonesia. On the major highways they even have separate motor bike lanes.
The city has 179 buildings over 492 ft (150 meters) tall and 6 over 984 ft (300 meters) tall.
Merdeka 118, formerly known as Menara Warisan Merdeka, KL 118, and PNB 118, is a 118-story skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur. At 2,227 ft tall, it is the second-tallest building and structure in the world, only behind the Burj Khalifa, at 2,722 ft.
The Petronas Towers also known as the Petronas Twin Towers and colloquially the KLCC Twin Towers, are an interlinked pair of 88-storey skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, standing at 451.9 meters (1,483 feet). From 1996 to 2004, they were the tallest buildings in the world.
A glimpse of the KL Tower stands 1381 feet tall. We went to the observation deck on our 2015 trip for a fantastic view. (this is also the first and only time I tasted the durian fruit)
Does this statue look familiar? Commemorating military sacrifices in the name of Malaysian freedom, the National Monument's centerpiece is a bronze sculpture of soldiers (one of them holding aloft the Malaysian flag), created in 1966 by Felix de Weldon, the artist behind the Iwo Jima monument near Washington, DC.
Georgetown, Penang Malaysia - March 4th & 5th
A beautiful sunrise which lead to a beautiful day.
Entopia - formerly the Penang Butterfly Farm. We visited here in 2015, but since then the name has changed and they have done extensive renovations and enlargements. It now houses much more than butterflies.
Fruit at a local roadside spice and fruit market.
As we were about to leave port, we enjoyed watching these two tugs, turning this larger carrier around.
After a very nice dinner, I came back to the cabin to see this beautiful sunset, so I thought I would share a few photos.
Finally, the internet is allowing me to upload photos again. I hope it continues. We sail to Phuket, Thailand tonight for our 4th port day in a row. We do get to set the clocks back tonight and gain an hour. We are ready for some sea days!
