Day 119 & 120 - May 2 & 3, 2025 - Friday & Saturday

Honfleur is a yachting, tourist, and small fishing center, it has a picturesque 17th-century harbor ringed with 15th- and 16th-century buildings.  Until the 19the century, Honfleur was a major shipping port of France, it has since been replaced by Le Havre on the other side of the Seine River.

We arrived in Honfleur, France on Saturday to a misty, cloudy day.  We were last in Honfleur in 2014 on a Seine River cruise.  A new sea pier had just been added in 2013, but cruise ships were not frequent at this time.  Today however, the town was much busier, crowded and commercialized than when we were last here, due to larger cruise ships coming to the beautiful town.

I will share a few photos.

The old and the new...

Obviously, some in France like the USA...

Some of the most beautiful produce I have ever seen.

Sainte-Catherine church dates from 1460 and is perhaps the largest wooden church in France.  It replaced a stone church which was destroyed by the English during the 100 Years War.  The locals, who's knowledge of shipbuilding, constructed the church which the interior resembles an inverted ship.

We arrive in Dover tomorrow, then on to Greenwich on Monday and we then fly home on Tuesday, thus ending our four-month journey.
